How to Tumble Polish Gemstones by Jerome Wexler
This excellent and inexpensive book has very detailed instructions on how to properly tumble polish rocks and gems. It also has information on how to make jewelry items out of the final product. Well illustrated with many b&w and color photographs. 8" x 11" 31 pages.  

Coarse Tumbler Grit 1 lb. Coarse grit is used in the first step of the tumbling process. Stones should be run with coarse grit until they reach the final desired shape. For rough material, this may require extra time, and lots of coarse grit. This 16 oz. resealable container of 60/90 silicon carbide grit is the replacement item for the coarse grit contained in the LR59030 Grit Kit.  

Lortone 3A Rock Tumbler The Lortone model 3A rotary rock tumbler is our most popular tumbler. The Lortone 3A tumbler is quite simple to operate and will give an excellent finish to your stones. It has a molded rubber barrel with screw down leak proof barrel closure. Rubber barrels run much quieter and with less slippage than cheap plastic barrels. The barrel interior measures approximately 4" diameter x 4" deep. Holds up to 2 pounds of rough rock when properly filled with the barrel 2/3 to 3/4 full. Illustrated instructions included. Lortone 33B Twin Rock Tumbler The Lortone Model 33B rock tumbler features twin barrels running at the same time on a single stretch version frame assembly. It has molded rubber barrels with screw down leak proof barrel closures. Rubber barrels run much quieter and with less slippage than cheap plastic barrels. The barrel interiors measure approximately 4" diameter x 4" deep. Great for polishing rocks with a radically different hardness. Run softer rocks in one barrel and harder rocks in the other. This prevents the harder rocks from destroying the softer material. Each barrel holds up to 2 pounds of rough rock when properly filled with the barrel 2/3 to 3/4 full. Four Step Tumbler Grit Pack The four step tumbler grit pack consists of approximately 1 pound each of coarse 60/90 silicon carbide, medium 220 silicon carbide, pre-polish 400 silica and polish titanium dioxide stages. Lortone Plastic Pellets 1 lb. One pound bag of round, hard plastic pellets. Use in the pre-polish and polish stages to cushion delicate stones, protecting them from chipping. Also works well as a filler for smaller loads. Long wearing and reusable.
