Alaska Mining & Diving Supply stocks neoprene drysuits made by Harvey's. We order this suit less the valves required for deeper SCUBA diving. It makes for an inexpensive suit ideal for shallow work, in particular when used in a gold dredging operation. We have found over the years that this suit will take far more abuse than most drysuits, and is ideal for work situations. The addition of the optional relief zipper makes this a drysuit you can comfortably spend the entire day in. The tough neoprene construction stands up to wear and tear more than most other materials. The 1/4" neoprene is also the main insulation for the suit, so this drysuit does not require expensive under suits. The rear shoulder zipper entry is protected from the wear a front zipper can be exposed to. Heavy-duty rubber walking boots are standard, rather than the flimsy booties common on many drysuits. The standard neoprene wrist and neck seals are much less prone to tearing and rotting than normal latex seals. I ordered a new 5" Keene dredge from Keene with all the options and I also needed a good suit due to the extreme cold of the water in April and the early months of dredging. I ordered the Harvey's suit from you and have been very satisfied. My dredging buddy bought a $1,300 suit from another manufacturer. We went on a dredging outing to one of our favorite places. It is about 10,000 feet in elevation. The first day was OK. That night it snowed real hard and was very windy. We went down to the river the next morning to look at the dredge. Half of the river had frozen overnight (about 6" thick) and the fast water was no longer water. It was running slush. I don't know what temperature fast running water freezes but I know that it was very cold. We got our suits on and got in the water. The temperature of the water along with the 70mhp. winds were just too much for him because his suit was so thin. I wasn't cold at all and I am more cold blooded than most people. I was having a lot of fun with it; me being warmer than he. It is usually the other way around. I was actually pretty mean in letting him know that I was warmer than he was, even though he paid twice as much as I did for a suit. I was breaking large chunks of ice off the bank and riding them like a body board down through the rapids until they would break apart on the rocks. Thank you for the suit. It has extended my dredging season by about four months, It has exceed my expectations. It is warm, comfortable, flexible, the seals are of high grade and not restrictive. The suit is completely dry, and best of all it is affordable. Thanks again. Paul And another from Jeff in Washington: I received my new Harvey's Drysuit last Saturday - and Monday made a trip into a remote part of the Cascades here in Washington State to give it a try...Wow Wow Wow! It felt like summer all day long, despite the 29 degree temp and 3 feet of snow on the ground. Last summer I was freezing in a shell suit downstream, and my attitude was pretty poor after about 4 hours in the water...Now I can dredge all day year 'round, and am in the process of setting up a lighting system for night work...Your website really inspired me to give the Harvey's suit a try, and I have to say I'm even more impressed than I thought I would be - plus the durability is phenomenal...we were on sharp slate bedrock most of the day, and the suit didn't even show a mark...Oh - and yes we got a lot of gold...the area we were in produces crystalline and wire gold, and most of the pieces are still encased in quartz - very pretty stuff!
