Default Gold Bug Pro vs GMT

Can you add to your opinion/details of Gold Bug Pro not comparing quite as well as GMT?

It just depends what you want the detector for. The Gold Bug Pro is a better do-it-all type unit. I think more people relic hunt with it than nugget hunt. For not much more money the GMT is hotter on small gold than the Pro and offers both manual and automatic ground tracking. The Gold Bug Pro is lighter. You can make a case for both machines. The Gold Bug Pro does well on small gold. The GMT does better. And the Gold Bug 2 does a smidgen better than the GMT. Personally I have a Gold Bug 2 and prefer it hands down over the Gold Bug Pro.

Steve, you did not review the Technetics T2 Ltd-?

Is the reason why because the T2 Ltd is too close to(very simular) the Fisher F75 Special Edition-?

(But they do have some different features and I would like your opinion on the T2 Ltd for gold nuggets.)

Goldmann, just wanted to let you know that Steve is gone on another adventure for a few weeks. Don't know if he'll be able to give updates or not as he's playing in the outback.

    Default Confused

Steve, I'm new here and new to prospecting. I love your website and really appreciate all the good information your putting out. Having said that, I'm confused about which would be the right detector for me.

I've worked some small dredge operations with a friend, and I've found some nice gold, but I really would like to break into the metal detecting for nuggets. I guess my confusion comes from A. Not being very bright, and B. All the detectors you described sound pretty good with a few variances that I didn't really understand such as coils etc.

What would you reccommend for a no nothing brand new prospecter that wants to find nice nuggets and is willing to work?

    Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Mike,

I swear I did nothing. Only ten minutes between your posts so if somebody named Steve gave you some advice must have been the other Steve! But you hit the nail on the head. They are all good detectors and all will find gold if you work hard at it.

    Hi Steve

    Thanks for the great info.

I am new to metal detectors and am eager to start prospecting in the spring. I'm more or less looking for gold, but relics and coins would be cool as-well. What kind of detector would you recommend for the Yukon? I live in Whitehorse. Would your recommendations for Alaska be similar for the Yukon?

    Thanks
