I love highbankers & I love trommels. I wish I had the time & recources to build several of both just for fun!
Maybe this is the answer for the small time guy that loves both...

Hey Dick,
You've got a pretty nice set up there.. hopefully someday I'll be able to graduate to the big toys. Trying really hard!!

Brian, from your posts over the years I always figured you for a died in the wool "gold fish" who would always be a dredger!
Murph, I remember seeing your trommel on an Austrailian forum I used to frequent (can't remember the name) & drooling over it for hours studying it's design. Neat unit!
Dick, I used to run cat (and skidder, & frontend loader ...) logging in the woods in Oregon & miss the heavy equipment. Sometimes I think I would enjoy a "small" mechanized mining setup (small cat/loader/trommel...), but I also love the recreational side where I get to do it a shovel at a time & just enjoy the hands on aspect. I guess that's OK because that's all I see in my future for now. Nice trommel though :-)

Brian,
Don't be in any hurry. Remember, Big toys means bigger bills, bigger headaches and not necessarily bigger bank balance !
Sometimes bigger can really take the fun out of it.Dick Hammond - Chicken / Stonehouse Creek Mining

Vance,
Goldfish huh.. that's good.. I like that. Yup, I am a die hard dredger but with getting older I'm looking at different options, hopefully merge the two.
Dick,
I totally understand the concept of bigger bills as I'm a purchasing agent for Ch2M Hill on the slope for the HD shop.. I buy LOTS of parts for our dozers, excavators, tractor/trailers, water trucks, vac trucks etc.. I've got alot of ground that I need to test and need to move into a different field. After all.. need something to do when the river is flooding.
A small 311B w/Trommel would work nicely for me.

Hi Dick,
Nice setup! But how do they keep the oil flowing with that big a section of pipe missing?

I'd love to but I've yet to find one that seemed saleable enough considering you make zip on them. High gamble factor for little potential profit. If I got inquiries regularly that would be something else. I do know the little Gold Claimer unit I got was way to small.
I got a couple photos somebody gave me that looked really interesting. I'll find them and post later.
