    Default new fish habitat permit

Looks like the Alaska Fish & Game division of habitat small scale mining permit now requires power sluices (highbankers) to be 2.5 hp or less. I picked up my 2012 permit today and they are still free, but now are 4 pages instead of 2.

Last year it was called a
    "Fish habitat Permit
Small-scale mining with a suction dredge
Resident Fish Streams - Northern Kenai Peninsula"

    Now it is called
    "Small-Scale Mining permit
resident and andromous fish streams - Northern Kenai Peninsula"

Last year there was 1 stipulation, now there are 8 stipulations. This year they have added "dates authorized" to the section "Authorized Resident and andromous fish streams".

The biggest 2 changes that I see are "Power Sluice: Pump horsepower ___(must be 2.5 hp or less)" and stipulation number 8 which reads
"8. Water Intake for power sluice operation shall be properly screened to prevent intake, inpingement or entrapment of fish. The intake structure must be enclosed and centered within a screened box with a minimum size of 1 cubic foot and maximum screen-mesh size of 1/8 inch and water shall be discharged in a manner which prevents erotion. Adequate flow must remain to support aquatic life and maintain fish passage during water withdraw."

Are these forms available online? If not they should be.

    Thanks Dave.

We should be able to fill the form out online and use the electronic signature we use for the PFD. Guess F&G's not up to date on there own technology???

I think it has more to do with the form requiring both your signature and Ginny Litchfield's signature.

Will dredges be required to have the "Screened Box Intake"?

Nothing is said about dredges having a screened box intake, only highbankers (power sluices).

Great! Then I'll have both to show the changes they're making.
