Job Openings at AMDS

We are always looking for good employees at Alaska Mining & Diving Supply. With roughly 45 employees a certain amount of turnover is inevitable, and so openings occur on a regular basis. Job types include ATV, marine and snowmobile sales; assembly work on new boats, snowmobiles, and trailers; service work on marine products (inboard and outboard) plus snowmobiles and ATVs, office clerical work, yard and forklift work, parts counter and stocking work, and general warehouse and shipping work. Some jobs require nothing more than a willingness to learn and work hard. We are a fast-moving company, and so we attract high-energy individuals. The days go fast at Alaska Mining & Diving Supply!

For general employment always feel free to make a job application, even if we have no current openings. We will also advertise specific job openings here as they occur.

Positions Open: Marine Service Technicians

Alaska Mining & Diving Supply’s Service Dept. is seeking qualified technicians to fill openings and help with expansion. These are full-time permanent positions working in one of two shops. Because we are a large Ski-Doo dealership as well, we also assemble and repair snowmobiles during the winter months. If you have experience in that direction, be sure to include it on your application.

The Service Dept. supports all the mechanical products that we sell: Boats (14-30ft), outboard motors, trailers, snowmobiles, PWC, ATVs generators, snowblowers, water pumps, chainsaws, and heaters. A qualified marine tech. is someone who has been paid to be a marine technician, preferably by a dealership in a shop environment. Certifications from any marine brand are helpful and certificates from the products we sell make you very qualified (perusing our website will show you everything we sell and service). Some techs specialize in a few products (like small engines), some are diverse. The broader range of skills you have, the more valuable you become within the company. Additional skills that make you valuable but do not require having a dedicated person on staff would be welding and fabrication (aluminum and steel), minor fiberglass and painting, woodworking, upholstery and shock rebuilding.

The Rigging Dept. prepares all of our new mechanical product for delivery. “Rigging” a boat entails fitting it properly on the trailer, installing outboard motor(s) including steering, fuel systems, shift/throttle controls or testing inboard engines on so equipped boats. Rigging includes installing interior accommodations like seating, cabinets, bunks, sinks, stoves and heaters. Rigging includes installing electronics (VHF radios, stereos, GPS, sounders, sonar, radar, autopilots and associated transducers and antennas. Other accessories installed include electric anchor winches (windlass), bilge pumps, downriggers, pot pullers, rod holders, etc. The rigging tech. position is not as technical in nature because you are not responsible for diagnostic and repair of broken product. You are responsible for proper set-up and operation of new product.

Both shop’s normal schedule is M-F 9-6. We do work overtime during busy periods. This may include starting early, working late or on weekends. We pride ourselves in maintaining a full-time year ‘round crew insulated from seasonal layoffs or part time work. The trade-off is that we have to work harder during the peak busy seasons (March to June and Oct-Dec) to deliver the product we sell.

Each technician is required to bring his own tools. Also, if you are planning to relocate to the Anchorage vicinity and you have the above skills, let us know.

Thank you for your interest. Email service@akmining.com if you have any questions.
